Jacob,son of Isaac, ran away from his father’s home after stealing his brother Esau’s birthright. Jacob dreamed of a ladder to heaven with angels ascending and descending.

When he awakened, he dedicated that place to God. He called lit Beth-El (Bethel); The House of God.
